After years of waiting and anticipations, players in North America and Europe will finally be able to play Phantasy Star Online 2, officially. By which I mean, not using private servers or VPNs to try to play the game.
According to the news post on the website:
The time has come for Oracle to welcome a new wave of ARKS Recruits! On May 27th, 2020, Phantasy Star Online 2 finally launches in North America on Windows 10. Download for free at the Microsoft Store!
Release Date: 5/27. After our scheduled server maintenance. Approximately 5:00 AM, PDT.
Download: 5/26, 11:00 PM (PDT).
Phantasy Star Online 2 is a Play Anywhere title that features cross-platform play and progress. Xbox One players can keep their progress on Windows 10 PCs by accessing the game using the same Microsoft Live ID used to play PSO2 on Xbox One.
Apart from all of that, new events with boosts for players both on the Xbox One and PC (Windows 10), as well as a new look to the Shopping Plaza, is to be expected to come with this update that players can download tonight.
It wasn’t that long ago that their last beta for Xbox One was introduced, and we do know that Phil Spencer stated back in E3:
“It was so cool to have [Sega] on our stage and work with them. And yes, [Phantasy Star Online 2 will] end up on all platforms,” Spencer said. “That’s not the point. To me, the point was to be able to have Sega back on our stage. It’s been a while.”
So perhaps we’ll be seeing the Playstation 4 version of Phantasy Star Online 2, coming rather shortly after the Windows 10 launch.
