Outriders Delayed to April 1st – No Joke! – Free Public Demo on February 25

And we’re finally back from a long vacation off the site. For everyone that reached out, thank you and welcome back to the site. With that out of the way, the upcoming looter-shooter title from Square Enix, Outriders, announced today that it would be delaying its release to April 1st, 2021. Of course this date is not without its drama, as we all know it’s the day of April Fool’s, but according to their official Twitter this is in fact the new release date. In addition to this news, the team stated that a public demo would be available for all players to try out the game both as a single-player and co-op experience, so everyone could have a chance to try out the game before they decided to pre-order – a wise choice, given all the issues that surround the Pre-Order stigma.

The team goes on to sharing more details about the delay, stating that the reason for this delay is to fine tune the game and focus on delivering a fantastic game experience at launch. Maybe I’m being pessimistic, after all Cyberpunk 2077 had 8 years and many, many, many delays later it still came out with quite a few issues. Either way, we’ll see how it is! Regardless of my opinion, I think the release of a public demo ahead of launch to have players test the product is a fantastic idea, one we often see in MMORPGs and online games like Call of Duty.
